Hello. My friend recommended this community to me.
This is a looooong story so I'll try to remember all the facts.
I had sex for the first time in August. It all started to what I thought was herpes (but was actually just a pimple) and having some brighter than normal discharge. The first doctor, without any testing, said I had bacterial vaginosis and did douching and an insert pill. Of course douching is BAD and he was a douche-y doctor so I found another one.
I took an extensive STD test and everything was negative. After my period, everything seemed to go back to normal.
October 1st, I was struck with a sudden UTI (first one EVER) and got a three day dose of antibiotics. I went back after a week so they could test and they said I was fine, although I was still feeling weird down there.
Two weeks later, I had sex with my boyfriend and my clitoris burned so badly about 5 minutes before we finished. I went to the doctor the next day (the stupid one) and again without testing, he said the UTI and the bacterial vaginosis much be treated together. Again with the douching... I left to go to the other doctor (the male gyno was the only one open on Saturday so I went because I was worried). The other doctor did a vaginal and urine test. She found 3 kinds of bacteria (Streptococcus Agalactiae, Escherichia Coli, Enterococcus Faecalis) and fungus (Candida Albicans). I received a round of antibiotics, inserts, and a cream.
I had slight itching, but not terrible. My discharge was a bright yellow. My boyfriend and I stopped having sex for two weeks (recommended by the doctor) and I also tried acidophilus + doing the yogurt remedy.
One thing, when I started the inserts, my lower abdomen started to hurt. Not all the time, but every now and then. It feels like menstrual cramps but I'm not do for another week (on the pill). I started to worry maybe it was PID. But I also developed horrible gas when I tried the garlic method (two cloves chopped up and swallowed.... not doing that again). I also had the cramping last time and it was about a week before my period (on a different set of pills). The douche doctor said it was from the "inflammation". But the cramping went away as soon as my period came.
The cramping I'm worried about. Of course there are several possibilities to the cramping (gas, the pill, the inserts, PID, the infection...). The other symptoms seemed to have all but disappeared but the cramping every now and then. It's not terrible pain but just that uncomfortable sudden menstrual cramp feeling and it's gone.
I can't go to the doctor until next week... (work. I live and work in JAPAN so, take the morning off for the doctor??? WHAT?! -_-).

Hi hi! I posted a question here about a week ago regarding knitting an easy Avatar-related item, and got pointed in the direction of this awesome windbender hat. I've knitted up the hat, which comes together in kind of 4 "parts" at the top, separated by raglan-type decreases. Now I'm putting the arrow on it using duplicate stitch, and I've run into a problem with continuing the arrow over the crown. This is my first time ever making a hat or using duplicate stitch, and everything I see online only explains how to do the stitches over original ones going in the same direction. I'm kind of at a loss for how to continue... ( pictures are here )Any ideas? - Tags:tips

I'm looking to indulge the high school that's still secretly in me. Does anyone have the Private series by Kate Brian? I'm also up for any recommendations for other YA books. Thanks.

Hello lovely people!
What, if any, vitamins or supplements do you take on a daily basis? What is their supposed benefit (aka why do you take them)?
I'd like to start to take vitamins for a various number of reasons (one being that I'm ALWAYS tired) but I don't know where to start besides with a multi-vitamin!
Thanks in advanced :] | | |

Hello everyone! My name is Lin, I'm 17 years of age and currently live on the east coast of the United States. Please excuse the poor quality photos, I had to take these with my phone as it is the only camera I currently have. Also they are big and there is a lot of them. You have been warned. I also apologize in advance to everyone's friends page if I don't get this lj-cut right the first time.

Good evening, VPers!
I have a question for any readers who have used Monistat 7 for a yeast infection. I have the pack with the long plastic applicators that you fill with cream then inject like a tampon-like syringe. I just used it and could not get it far inside of me AT ALL. The edge of the applicator hurt very badly, in fact. It felt like it was scraping the walls of my vagina, so I just relaxed as much as I could, made sure my NuvaRing was as far as I could get it, and still just got the applicator in only a little bit. Most of the cream even ended up just pushing out right away :(
Do any of you have any tips or similar stories?
Thanks so much =) | | |

I actually started holiday knitting in September! And have finished a complete project already! (This is utterly unheard of for me. But apparently having a little niece and nephew and wanting to knit sweaters for them both seems to motivate me.) ( FO photos and description )- feeling:relaxed

I have a prescription for Loette, & i've been taking it for about 5 months now. I got my prescription while I was living in Italy, given to me by a doctor that worked in the embassy there. I'm now back in the states & am wondering what to do about it. Will I have to do more tests & get a new prescription, or is it likely that they can just transfer it to the American equivalent of Loestrin?
Thank you to anyone that can help. =]
ETA: i am going to ask a doctor as well, but i just wanted to hear other experiences =]

ive tried everything and nothing has worked so far!
i know losing hair is normal, but ive been losing a LOT more hairs than normal. every time i take a pin or hair tie out of my hair, i lose a good bulk of strands. when i simply run my fingers through my hair i pull out about 10 strands, and if i run my fingers through the same spot, i'll pull out ANOTHER ten strands. its as if anywhere i put even the slightest bit of pressure (not even a pull) hair will come out. when i shower and shampoo, oh god, im afraid that theres no hair left! i know losing hair is normal but ive lost hair before and its remedied itself. its never been THIS bad or THIS drastic and THIS CONTINUOUS! this has been going on for months now and there's no way my hair can grow at the rate it's falling. WHAT DO YOU GUYS RECOMMEND to make my hair healthy again? i'll try anything at this point!
extra info: i dont straighten my hair (havent for a year now, stopped before problem even began), i shampoo once in 2-3 days, i dont brush my hair when its wet, my diet is as usual, im not stressed out, and ive stopped conditioning my hair since the problem started. AHHH :(

Hey! So I've recently "discovered" Victoria's Secret make up and I must say, some of it is really beautiful. I've only tried the lipglosses and lipsticks, though. What do you think of their foundation, blushes, bronzers, mascara, and eye shadows? I'm trying to decide whether or not to purchase more from them. Thanks!

So I have a bunch of super cute heels that I really want to wear with most of my outfits. But my problem is, I'm in college, and I have to walk EVERYWHERE. I walk maybe like 2-3 miles per day and I'm out and about for up to 12 hours at a time before I head back to my dorm. I want to look cute but comfort has so far trumped cuteness and I usually wear flats or other comfy shoes to walk around in. I've never gotten much practice wearing heels and I still totter in them! I can't even wear them to parties because each party is a mile or so walk away. :( Is there any way I can figure out how to make my heels wearable enough to actually spend a significant amount of time in? Does anyone actually last for 12 hours in heels? The longest I've ever worn heels at this point is maybe 2 hours before giving in and changing back into flats. Am I doomed to stare at my heels in my closet without any way to wear them?? and so this post isn't text only, my fave pair of rarely-worn heels:

First off, being the genius that I am, I threw away the information that came with my diaphragm after glancing through it only briefly. So today, after I'd already forgotten about it hanging out in my vagina, I also realized I did not know how to clean it.
Since it's silicone, I'm guessing I can clean it the same way I would my menstrual cup: soap, water, and letting it air dry. Yes? The reputable sites I'm Googling suggest this is the case, but I just wanted to double check here.
Also, does anyone know about the suitability of cotton corduroy for the top fabric in cloth menstrual pads? Apparently, with my post-Mirena flow, I still do not have enough pads unless I want to do laundry twice a day during my period. And appropriately themed cloth pads are key to keeping me amused by rather than frightened of the amount of fluid I lose during them. (Read: I currently have a hate-hate-fear-hate relationship with my period. Getting to bleed on cool-looking pads does a little to mitigate that fear and hate; therefore, this is kind of a big deal to me.)
Because I'm incredibly picky, I've had problems finding a cotton print or flannel that I like well enough. I found some cotton corduroys that I did like, but I wasn't sure if they'd work sufficiently well. They're 100% cotton, so I think they'd still be fairly breathable and absorbent; the ones I saw also felt as soft as cotton flannel, so I think they'd still be comfortable.
Has anyone ever actually used cotton corduroy for cloth pads, or would I be embarking on another Fun Vagina Experiment if I tried this?

Out of curiosity, regardless of price, what is everyone's favourite mascara? (The one thing a person needs in their bag to look instantly more awake and glamorous ;D)
My own (so far) is Lancome's Oscillation. It's a hefty price tag ($60 CAD) and the actually oscillation is not overly useful aside from lower lashes and inner lashes...but the formula is the best I've ever used and it gives me lashes like falsies (which is amazing since I have such fine, tiny lashes). But I've only used maybe five different kinds in my life so there's still opportunity to find a better one~
How about yours? | | |

hey everyone! im looking for a new shampoo and im not sure where to go looking.
i wash my curly hair at night and straighten it in the morning. and it always turns out very dry looking/ frizzy. but when it comes to the second day it is completely greasy. i don't want this to happen. i use dry shampoo sometimes on the second day but because i have such dark hair it just looks really bad.
anyone have any ideas??

I finished the first sock a month ago, and then the second took a while coming since I got a two week visitor and got a lot of work I had to finish up. But, I've finally managed to finish the second sock! FInally I can see why socks are such great little projects. All together I think I finished the second sock in about 5 hours, since it's quite easy once you get the hang of it (but everything is, come to think of it). There is one small mistake on the first sock that you can't see unless it's pointed out to you, and for some reason the slipped stitches on the gusset on the second sock became very large on one side - things to keep in mind for the future, I guess. Info: Pattern: Roll Top Socks - note: I did not do the roll-part but started right on the k1,p1. Needles: Susan Bates DPs, 5US Yarn: Colinette Jitterbug in now unknown colorway (I've lost the little info cards since the yarn has been in my stash for about 4 years now). ( Pictures! )

I have a question a friend wanted me to ask here.
She has been having UTI's for the past 3 years (since she's been sexually active) She gets them everytime she has sex. She pees before and after sex but still manages to get one. She gets them whether or not they use condoms. Her gyno gave her medication which helps but she goes through a lot of pain still.
I had heard about this pill that your doctor can prescribe to you when they know you get UTIs a lot, and you take it before having sex in order to prevent getting one. Does this really exist? What else can she do in order to prevent one?

Have you had it? Love it, hate it? What do you know about it?
